Taming the Guesty API: Streamlining Multi-Platform Review Management

The Challenge

This was exactly the challenge facing a Northwest US property management company. The tricky part? Even when accessing reviews through Guesty's API, each platform stores its review data differently. An Airbnb review might be in one field, while Booking.com stores it somewhere else entirely. Their initial attempt at automation kept failing because of these inconsistent data structures.

The Solution

Instead of building separate workflows for each platform, we created a custom app that standardized how review data was handled. This meant that regardless of whether a review came from Airbnb, Booking.com, or VRBO, it would arrive in a consistent, easy-to-process format.
We also solved the challenge of Guesty's API tokens expiring every 24 hours by implementing an automated refresh system. This meant their automations could run reliably without manual intervention.

The Results

The property management company went from manually pulling daily review reports across multiple platforms to having a fully automated system that:

  • Processes all reviews consistently regardless of source
  • Runs reliably without manual token updates
  • Delivers review notifications in a standardized format
