How a Boutique Architectural Studio Migrated Seven Years of Data to Hive in a Week
TABLE OF CONTENTS
The Client
A boutique architectural studio based in Dubai, specializing in luxurious projects in the Middle East, faced a significant challenge. With a team of 70 people, they were transitioning from Asana to Hive for project management and needed to migrate seven years of time-tracking data from the app MyHours into Hive.
The Challenge
- They needed to migrate seven years of time-tracking data to maintain continuity and accuracy in reporting.
- The migration required matching time logs by project, person, employee, and category to fit the new system's structure.
- Manually migrating and matching extensive data entries would be extremely time-consuming. Employees needed access to historical data to manage current and future projects effectively.
The Solution
We developed an automation using Hive Automate to process and import historical time-tracking data into Hive.
The solution involved exporting CSV files from MyHours parsing the data, and matching it with the appropriate projects, tasks, and employees in Hive.
The workflow automated the entire process, ensuring accurate and efficient data migration without summarizing any data.
The Results
- Completed the migration of seven years of data in less than a week, saving significant manual effort.
- Enabled accurate historical reporting and analysis by consolidating all project management and time-tracking data into Hive.
- Ensured continuity of information and processes, making it easier to manage ongoing and future projects.
The Teck Stack
- MyHours as the source of data.
- Hive Automate to process the CSV.
